Steering System/Geometry (Pat. e.g. US-Patent 6,546,610) KL-0250-40 Extractor for Clamping Bolt and Ball Joint, Audi A4/VW Passat KL-0250-40 Suitable for Audi A4 (until 2000)/VW Passat front axle (until 2005). Designed to remove the upper wishbone pivot pin from the steering knuckle clamping bore. Removing the upper clamping bolt and the two pivot pins from the steering knuckle has always presented mechanics and technicians with problems, especially when components are heavily corroded/seized in place. Not only is the usual technique using hammer, welding torch, angle grinder and drift time-consuming and arduous, but there is also a risk of damaging steering knuckles, pivot pins and wishbone struts. 2 The KL-0250-40 extractor with its proper pressure unit enables the quick and professional extraction of the hex clamping bolt and pivot pins. The tool is suitable for both right-hand and left-hand wheel suspensions. Example of use: • Mount tool with pressure unit to steering knuckle (with pressure drift I inserted). • Drive hex nut by means of an impact wrench and push back the hex clamping bolt. The loosening process takes place with a loid noise. • Extract hex clamping bolt with the pressure unit in 3 working stages. For this, insert the pressure drifts II + III one after another. • Pull out hex clamping bolt completely. In case it is still not possible to extract the entire hex clamping bolt, use the supplement pressure drift set KL-0250-402 to press it out completey. • Remove hex nut. Completely remove pressure drift so that the clamping bore is clear. • Using the pressure spindle, push out both pivot pins from the clamping bore. Advantages: • High cost savings. • Substantial time savings of approximately 2-3 hours. • No risk of damage to suspension components.
