De ci si on- maki ng sup p o rt To determine the load-bearing capacity The load-bearing capacity is an important decision criterion when choosing a castor to ensure objects are transported optimally. To determine the load-bearing capacity, the dead weight of the object and the maximum load are added together then divided by 3. Since only 3 of 4 wheels often have floor contact on uneven floors, gate thresholds or potholes, we recommend using this formula to calculate the load-bearing capacity. This ensures an adequate safety margin. The specified load-bearing capacities are maximum values for ideal conditions. The load-bearing capacity of castors is determined by the maximum load capacity of the wheel and the housing, e.g. load-bearing capacity wheel 120 kg, housing 100 kg; the load-bearing capacity of the castor is therefore 100 kg. The kg figures in the header tables of the article pages always refer to the castors. Static load-bearing capacity According to DIN EN 12530 or 12532, the nominal load capacities apply at a speed of 4 km/h on level roadways and an ambient temperature of +10 to +30 °C. At temperatures above 30 °C and with electrically conductive variants, the load-bearing capacity is reduced. In principle, the load-bearing capacities given in the Dörner + Helmer catalogue are static values. Dynamic load-bearing capacity If a wheel or castor is exposed to dynamic loads, a reduction in load-bearing capacity of up to 25% can be assumed. When using four wheels or more, it is possible that the load capacity of the individual wheels or castors varies. Furthermore, factors such as indoor or outdoor use and the obstacle height influence the load-bearing capacity.
