Dirt causes increased wear and negatively influences the service life of the pneumatic elements. Since the filter in the system forms a resistance to flow, for economical reasons the efficiency of the filter should be adjusted to the requirements of the application the air should be as clean as is necessary. This is specified in DIN ISO 8573-1:2010 into various cleanliness classes so that a uniform assessment of the degree of cleaning is possible. Depending on the requirements of the application, there are different demands on the compressed air quality.
