P r o d u c t i nformati on chains Round-steel chains DIN 5685-1 - Long link. -2 - Semi long link. -3 - Short link. These standards apply to welded round steel chains for general purposes without proof loading. Material – steel, finish – bright, electro-galvanised or hot-dip galvanised. These chains may not be used as load suspension devices, slinging equipment or load carrying means. For the permissible use of these chains for static suspension of loads lying in the sole sphere of responsibility of the user, calculated values were stipulated for the vertically suspended single strand. DIN 5685-1 and -2: Wire thickness 2.0 - 13.0 mm, calculated static load capacity 20 - 800 kg. DIN 5685-3: Wire thickness 4.0 - 16.0 mm, calculated static load capacity 80 - 1250 kg, dimensions similar to DIN 766. DIN 763 This standard applies to long-link, tested and non-calibrated round steel chains and defines their dimensions and mechanical properties. Material – steel, finish – bright or electro-galvanised. These chains may not be used as load suspension devices, slinging equipment or load carrying means. Wire thickness 4.0 - 16.0 mm, load capacity for static suspensions 100 - 1600 kg. DIN 766 This standard applies to tested and calibrated round steel chains in grade 3 and defines their dimensions and mechanical properties. Material - steel, minimum grade Ust 35-2. Finish – bright, electro-galvanised or hot-dip galvanised. These chains are used in the complete field of technology and as manual lifting tools, but may not be used for motor-driven lifting tools or as slinging equipment. Wire thickness 4.0 - 16.0 mm, load capacity 200 - 3200 kg. Knotted link chains DIN 5686 This standard defines the dimensions of knotted link chains without quality requirements in a nominal thickness range of 1 to 5.5 mm. Material – steel, electrogalvanised. These chains may not be used as load suspension devices, slinging equipment or load carrying means. Wire thickness 1.0 to 4.6 mm 8
