FREE (VI) CHROM FREE RESISTANT AND NEVERTHELESS GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, CHROME(VI)-FREE WHERE SECURE SCREW CONNECTIONS ARE CALLED FOR: ■ Stainless steel SPAX are particularly suitable for outdoor applications. A higher corrosion protection is achieved compared with a bare zinc coating, but with the same surface coating thickness (coating thickness 4–6 µm with artificial atmospheric corrosion ■ Is chrome(VI)-free and therefore far more eco-friendly than conventional surface coatings in both production and use. ■ You can therefore continue to use a screw with a yellowish appearance with higher corrosion protection and chrome(VI)-free (i.e. eco-friendly and without health concerns) even in the future ■ DIN EN 1670 SPAX with optimised YELLOX surface fulfil Grade 3 ("high resistance") as per this European standard for the corrosion resistance of locks and fittings. They are available in the version stainless steel A2 for outdoor applications that are exposed to direct weathering, and for applications in damp locations (e.g. kitchens and bathrooms). For applications in coastal areas, we recommend the version stainless steel A4. Stainless steel is characterised by a high chrome content so that a protective layer is formed on the material surface. Further alloying elements such as nickel, molybdenum, manganese and niobium result in an even better corrosion resistance.
