Metabo diamond cutting discs guarantee precise cutting as they are made from high-quality synthetic diamonds. The main disc body is made from hardened steel and thus guarantees highest safety criteria. Structure and function of Metabo diamond cutting discs The saw blade For the stability and smooth running accuracy, the steel core of the Metabo diamond cutting discs is made of hardened steel of a very high quality. The notches between the segments are for cooling purposes and give the disc the required stability. In manufacturing of the Metabo diamond cutting discs, only synthetic diamonds of the best quality are used. The mixture of diamonds and bonding agent is compacted under high pressure and temperature. During this process the cutting segment obtains its form. It is thicker than the basic blade so that a relief clearance is obtained. These discs are only utilized when cutting with water coolant. Due to the high temperatures generated when dry-cutting, segments can become detached. Increased risk of accidents! Sintering: The cutting segments are bonded to the disc body with temperature and pressure. This bond is so strong that sintered cutting discs can be used for dry-cutting without a problem. Laser welding: The best bond is presently obtained with the laser welding process. With the laser beam a strong micro bond between segment and the main disc body is obtained. Laser welding gives safety of the highest level. During the sharpening process, the residues between the individual diamonds on the cutting segment are removed. The metal bond holds all diamonds in place. During the cutting process the exposed diamonds slice through the contact material, leaving only a fine dust afterwards. During the cutting process the diamonds splinter or break off. The harder the contact material the greater the wear. Simultaneously the material in the segment bond also wears off and bit by bit new diamonds are exposed. 153 |
