A distinction is made between constant tooth pitch with uniform tooth spacing and variable tooth pitch with different tooth spacing within a toothing interval. Variable tooth spacing is identified by two measures, e.g. 2-3 TPI. 2 TPI identifies the max. tooth spacing and 3 TPI identifies the min. tooth spacing in the toothing interval. CUTTING / PRESSING BAN DWI DTH With horizontal machines the band width is specified by the manufacturer. Vertical blade saw machines allow higher variations of the blade width. However, the general rule is the wider the band saw blade, the higher its stability. In case of contour cuts the smallest radius to be cut is the limiting factor for the blade width.Teeth distance in toothing intervals. New saw bands can tend to vibrate and make noises by sawing. It can be reduced by a small reduction of the cutting speed. For cutting small workpiece dimensions the saw blade sould be retracted by about 300 cm² of the cutting material. For processing large workpieces, we recommend to retract over a period about 15 min. In order to achieve an ideal service life, we recommend you to use the saw bands accordingly. Determine the correct cutting speed and the feed depending on the material and the dimension of your cutting material. It is important that the saw blade is used at approximately 50% of the determined feed.
