PFERD offers a wide range of coated abrasive tools for machining different workpiece geometries and materials. They consist of a carrier material, a base bond and a cover bond to fix the abrasive grains. Depending on the grain size, coated abrasive tools can achieve a high material removal or a very fine surface finish. The carrier materials available differ in their properties such as tear resistance, flexibility and wear. By choosing the right backing, the grinding tool is adapted to the requirements of the intended application: paper is used in the woodworking industry and in trades, e.g. by carpenters, painters and varnishers, fabric is mainly used in metalworking, and vulcanized fiber is very wear-resistant and is used in different thicknesses primarily for the manufacture of fiber sanders. The set contains three fan grinders of the Corundum A design with a shaft diameter of 3 mm in grain sizes 80, 120 and 180. In fan grinders, the lamellae made of abrasive material on a base are arranged in a fan shape radially around the axis of the tool. Their flexibility means they adapt perfectly to the contours of the workpiece. The abrasive grain is embedded in a synthetic resin bond on the tensile, flexible fabric carrier.
