TECHNICAL BASICS EN A fall arrest system arrests the operator’s fall, limiting the loading on the body while doing so. This system allows the user to reach zones or positions in which the risk of falling freely exists and, if a fall occurs, limits the length of the fall and arrests the fall. A fall arrest system may include an energy dissipation device to limit loading on the body to tolerable value. Dieses System besteht aus einem Arbeitsseil (W) und einem Sicherheitsseil (S), die beide separat an der Struktur verankert sind, aber beide am Gurt des Bedieners befestigt sind. Der Bediener kann sich an der Arbeitsleine abseilen und wieder hinaufklettern oder in der Arbeitsposition hängen bleiben. Das Sicherheitsseil wird nur dann belastet, wenn es ein Problem mit dem Arbeitsseil gibt oder der Bediener einen Fehler macht. EN A rope access system allows the operator to work while suspended, avoiding or arresting a fall. This system is comprised of a working line (W) and a safety line (S), each separately anchored to the structure but both fixed to the operator’s harness. The operator can descend down and climb back up the working line or remain suspended in the working position. The safety line is loaded only if there is a problem with the working line or the operator makes a mistake. EN A rescue system allows an operator to rescue him/herself or other workers. It allows the lifting or lowering of a person to a safe place. 5. FALL FACTOR DE Der Sturzfaktor ist ein Wert, der Auskunft über die Härte des Sturzes gibt und definiert sich durch das Verhältnis der verlorenen Höhe während des Falles und der Länge des Seils (oder des Verbindungsmittels), das den Arbeiter mit dem Anschlagspunkt verbindet: Ein zu hoher Sturzfaktor kann hohe Kräfte erzeugen und zu Folgendem führen: • schwere Verletzungen des Arbeiters, die durch die abrupte Verlangsamung im Moment des Stillstands entstehen • Bruch oder Beschädigung der verwendeten Vorrichtungen, durch die Energieeinwirkung im Moment des Aufschlags Um solche Risiken zu begrenzen, ist es in bestimmten Situationen unerlässlich, ein Falldämpfer zu verwenden. In Verbindung mit den richtigen Auffangsystemen, wie den folgenden: • Mitlaufendes Auffangsystem mit fester (z.B. Scheinen) oder beweglicher Führung (Textilseil) EN 353 • Höhensicherungsgerät EN 360 • Verbindungsmittel mit Falldämpfer EN 355 EN The fall factor is a value which describes how hard a fall is and is defined as the height lost in the fall divided by the length of the rope (or safety device) that joins the person to the anchor point. A too-high fall factor can cause high decelerations and lead to: • serious injuries to the operator, due to the sharp deceleration to which the body is subjected at the moment of arrest • breakage of or damage to the equipment used, due to the force exerted at the moment of impact To limit such risks it is vital, in certain situations, to use an energy dissipation system.
