3 Design and Function 3. Application • The ViGOR Mini Grinder is characterized by its long runtime. Battery charging Charge the battery before first use. • In contrast to Ni-Ca or MH batteries, Lithium-ion batteries do not have a memory effect. The capacity of other batteries decreases steadily but the capacity of lithium-ion batteries remains constant until the electronics interrupts discharging. The mini grinder will stop abruptly, if the charging level of the battery falls below a certain value. • Regardless of the charging condition, the battery can be charged at any time without damaging the cells. • Connect the battery charger with the mains lead to the power socket. The charge indicator (7) lights up. • 2. Insert the grinder into the battery charger only as shown in the figure. If you insert the mini grinder in a wrong way, you might damage the unit. • The battery charger will automatically switch off after approx. 2 – 3 hours. The charge indicator lights up green if the battery is fully charged. turning On and OFF • To switch the mini grinder on, turn the ON/OFF rotary switch (2) in direction to the number 5 and to switch off turn in direction to 1. Use the switch to regulate the rotational speed. • The more you turn the rotary switch in direction to 5 the higher is the speed. The speed may be adjusted from 2.000 to 18.000 rpm. • The built-in lamp (5) lights up if the mini grinder is turned on. Inserting the Grinding Point • Push the spindle lock (3) forward and hold it in order to insert the grinding point. Open the tool holder (4) by turning it counter-clockwise and insert the grinding point. • Insert the mandrel of the grinding point into the collet chuck as far as it will go. • Tighten the tool holder by turning it clockwise. • For collet replacement, completely unscrew the tool holder and insert the new collet. 4. Maintenance and cleaning • Clean the mini grinder regularly with a moist cloth. • Do not use aggressive chemicals as e.g. benzine or thinner as they might damage the plastic material. • Always keep the ventilation slots clean and free from obstructions in order to avoid overheating the motor. • Clean the ventilation slots with a soft paint brush. • Never immerse the mini grinder in liquid when cleaning. 14
