DID YOU KNOW... ... the difference between rubber and rubber? Rubber is the unvulcanized form of rubber, i. If rubber is deformed, it remains deformed, while rubber almost completely reverts to its original shape, so it is elastic. Rubber is therefore also referred to as an elastomer. The vulcanization or crosslinking of the rubber to the rubber is effected by the admixture of so-called accelerators, such as sulfur, peroxides, etc., under the action of heat and pressure. Rubber parts are made of natural rubber or synthetic rubber. Naturkosmetik is produced as a milk juice (latex) from rubber trees, which mainly grow on plantations in the Far East. By far the largest producer of natural rubber is Thailand. Ca. However, today 60% of the world's needs are covered by petrochemically manufactured synthetic rubber. In 1913, a German scientist invented the first synthetically produced rubber. Starting from 1935 the standard production of synthetic rubber under the name "Buna" began in works of the I.G. Colors in Schkopau. The access to natural rubber, which was disturbed during the Second World War, pushed further development into synthetic rubbers. ? Abbreviations of some, common rubber grades and properties : NR SBR NBR CR EPDM VWQ = = = = = = Natural Rubber Styrene-butadiene-Rubber Nitrile-butadiene-Rubber Chloroprene-Rubber Ethylene-propylene-diene-Rubber Silicone-Rubber high elasticity very universally applicable Rubber good resistance to oil and petrol good aging resistance aging / weather-proof for physiologically safe use Due to the continuous technology advances, the properties of these elastomers can now be adjusted to almost all application requirements. The material "rubber" is usually connected first with rubber tires - "rubber" rolls the entire motorized transport - there are many Examples of other applications that are indispensable in everyday life: Hoses, seals, conveyor belts, V-belts, work clothes, etc. (Reference: "Rubber - the elastic fascination") Illustrations, dimensions and descriptions are not binding.
