Drive belts are indispensable in industry and mechanical engineering. The maximum service life of a drive belt depends on the optimum belt tension. A motor failure caused by belt damage can result in considerable costs. Regular belt tension checks are therefore essential to prevent engine and belt damage. The belt tension of drive belts can be measured quickly and reliably with the digital belt tension meter. The tension meter is used to check belt systems particularly effectively by measuring the frequency.

The belt tension meter is an optical measuring maintenance tool for determining the belt tension. This tension meter consists of a display unit and a sensor head. The sensor head of the belt tension meter is attached to a gooseneck. The movable gooseneck allows the sensor head of the belt tension meter to be positioned flexibly and measure the belt tension of drive belts even in hard-to-reach places.
The belt tension meter measures the tension force and frequency of the belt when it is stationary. A small pulse on the belt is enough to cause it to vibrate. Thanks to its sensor, the belt tension measuring device records the natural frequency of the belt generated in this way and visualises it on the large, illuminated display. From the belt frequency and the optionally entered belt length and belt mass, the tension meter can directly determine the tension force of the belt. With the belt tension meter, the user can determine the belt tension in the system of pulleys to be controlled and take immediate action to adjust the tension to the target value. Measuring the belt tension requires a high degree of precision, and the pretension meter performs it quickly and reliably.

The user can choose between two units of measurement when using the belt tension meter: N (SI unit) and Pound-Force (US unit). The graphic display of the belt tension meter shows the measured value as belt frequency in Hz. When the belt mass and length are entered, the tension meter also displays the belt force in Newtons. The intuitive graphic menu is visualised on the high-contrast display of the belt tension meter in six selectable languages. The belt tension measuring device is equipped with a memory for further analysis and quality assurance purposes. Up to 750 data records in 15 orders of 50 measured values each can be stored in the belt tension measuring device’s memory. This means that the data is not lost after a measurement in real time and can be saved in the belt tension meter for future measurements.
