Alternative tools: VAG 3424; VAG T20040; BMW 312230 The spreader tool kit is designed to professionally expand the strut clamping bore in steering knuckles. It can also be used to spread the slot (clamp) on the front wheel bearing housing (steering knuckle) to allow for the damage-free removal of the lower ball joint. This procedure is an absolute must to ensure the proper removal of tightfitting or stuck spring/shock absorber units and lower suspension ball joints respectively. Special features of the tool are the floating bolts that prevent the tool from jamming and the special spreader wedge which is provided with a limit stop to avoid excessive knuckle widening. Prevents expensive damage to the cast iron or aluminium steering knuckle or other chassis components that may be caused by unprofessional removal/installation attempts. Thanks to its variably adjustable spreader tip, this tool is also ideal for use on vehicles with steering knuckles having a non-centralised slot!
