TECHNICAL BASICS BASICS OF FALL PROTECTION Innovative, spectacular, architecturally high-quality buildings as well as infrastructure facilities require regular cleaning, care and maintenance. Whether roofs, domes, masts, towers, facades - all require an innovative, individual fall protection solution for your safety. In addition, flat roofs are increasingly being used for the istalltion of aggregates, natural lighting areas - such as light bands, smoke and heat ventilation and fire protection systems, but also the installation of escape and rescue routes require the roof surface to be secured against falling. It must be possible for the company‘s own staff and the staff of external companies to work and move safely on the roof. Everyone involved in the construction and operation of a building is responsable for an appropriate fall protection system. This includes the owner, his representative, the planner, the health and safety manager as well as the user. The occupational health and safety act (ArbSchG), rules and regulations, such as the Workplace Ordinance (ArbstättV), standards ( e.g. DIN 4426) as well as regulations and information from the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV Information 201-056) require mandatory protection of workplaces at height. The central criterion for the selection of the fall protection system are the categories of use and the groups of persons from DGUV information 201-056. SQUARE ROOF SURFACE The orange circle represents the possible working area where the highest level of safety prevails (restraint system). The grey colour shows the area with a risk of falling. Here the necessary requirements for the equipment and the qualification of the personnel are significantly higher. RECTANGULAR ROOF SURFACE The grey high risk zone starts at 2.00 m / 6.56 ft from the edge of the roof and must be secured by appropriate measures. 2,00 m (6,56 ft) 20
