Für eine notwendige Rettung/Selbstrettung von Personen von einem höher gelegenen Arbeitsplatz nach unten werden Abseilgeräte eingesetzt. Die nachfolgenden Abseilgeräte besitzen alle eine automatische Fliehkraftbremse, so dass unabhängig vom Anwender, die zu rettende Person immer mit einer maximalen Abseilgeschwindigkeit von weniger als 2m/s abgeseilt wird. Zusätzlich werden die Geräte mit diversen Zusatzfunktionen und Zubehör angeboten. Zum Beispiel mit einem zusätzlichen Handrad, mit dem die zu rettende Person über eine kurze Strecke angehoben werden kann. Dies ist zum Beispiel notwendig, wenn die verunfallte Person vor dem Rettungsvorgang noch in der Absturzsicherung hängt und aus dieser befreit werden muss. Es werden Abseilgeräte mit bis zu 200 m maximale Abseilhöhe angeboten. Diese Geräte sind für eine wechselseitige Rettung geeignet, da das Seil durch das Gerät durchläuft und nicht gespeichert werden muss.
