Ceiling mounted crane with un-reinforced runway tracks Ceiling mounted crane with reinforced runway track The runway tracks can be reinforced to span longer distances between suspension points, when this is limited by the supporting structure. L IG HT CRANE S YS TEM S Ceiling mounted cranes are useful where the floor space is limited. Since the cranes are directly mounted on the ceiling and no supporting columns are necessary the working floors are kept clear for other operations. However it requires an adequate ceiling structure. Un-reinforced runways can be used when the distance between supports is small or by utilising I-beams or other structures at the ceiling. (*) Sway bracing may be required for the ceilling support brackets that are not directly mounted (flush mounted) to the supporting structure in order to reduce the swinging effect.
