15 EN 388 - REQUIREMENTS AGAINST MECHANICAL RISKS The EN 388 standard describes the test procedures for determining the performance levels of certain mechanical risks. The pictogram is marked with five or six level values. EN 388 ABCDEF Performance levels A - abrasion resistance Level 1 - 4 Depending on thickness and coating, it is being measured how many grinding cycles it takes until the material is worn through. B - cut resistance Coupe-Test Level 1 - 5 The number of blade rotations until the glove is cut through as well as the abrasion degree of the blade is measured. C - tear resistance Level 1 - 4 The force required to tear the material of a glove to a nominal length is measured. D - puncture resistance Level 1 - 4 The force necessary to penetrate the material of a glove with a steel pin is measured. E - cut resistance ISO 13997 Level A - F This test is performed with a new blade and more pressure each time until the material is cut through or has passed the maximum test level. F - impact protection EN 13594 P = passed This test measures the energy and force transfer when a weight is dropped on the glove.
