19 EN 511 - THERMAL RISKS (COLD) This standard applies to gloves that offer protection against convection and contact cold down to -50°C. The pictogram is accompanied by three performance levels. EN 511 ABC EN ISO 11393 - PROTECTION AGAINST HAND-HELD CHAINSAWS EN ISO 11393-4 defines the requirements for personal protective equipment (PPE) for users of hand-held chain saws. Part 4 of this standard refers to protective gloves. Performance levels cut protection classes A - convective cold Level 1 - 4 In a cold chamber, the isolation properties of a glove are measured until the cold breaks through. Class 1 20m/s chain speed (standard) B - contact cold Level 1 - 4 During a direct cold contact it is measured how long it takes until the cold breaks through. Class 2 24m/s chain speed C - water resistance Level 0 - 1 After 30 minutes of wetting a glove, it is measured, if water is able to leak inside. Class 3 28m/s Chain speed 0 means not passed, level X can be used for A to C and stands for "not tested" or "not relevant" - e.g. X2X COLD & WET EN 11393 class X
