Application Note Brake Piston Tool Set, 37 pieces V 1590 General Information and Safety Precautions The Brake Piston Tool Set is suitable for all common vehicle types. It may be used for the readjustment of brake pistons on floating calliper systems with locking device for hand brakes. Operating instructions for calliper systems with locking device for hand brakes • Loosen the brake calliper and swivel it to the side. • Remove the brake pads. • Please make sure that there is enough space in the fluid reservoir for the admission of the brake fluid flowing back into the fluid reservoir when readjusting the brake piston. • Choose a spindle (left-handed or right-handed) according to the indications of the manufacturer and fit an appropriate adapter. • Lubricate the spindle. • Insert the assembly with the suitable adapter and spindle into the brake calliper and move close. • Turn the spindle/adapter to the right or left until the brake piston regains its initial position. • Wind back the spindle and remove the tool. • Remove the tool, install the brake calliper with the brake pads and check the brake fluid level as well as the braking effect. • It is absolutely necessary to consider the regulations of the manufacturer. 3
