Für Kabel, die bereits in Installationsdosen verlegt sind und somit schlecht zugänglich sind, benutzt man sogenannte Dosenentmantler. Beim Abmanteln öffnet man den Entmantler und legt ihn so um das Kabel, dass die Rundmesser an der Stelle platziert sind, an der man den Außenmantel abtrennen möchte. Man dreht den Entmanteler eine Viertelumdrehung nach links und nach rechts, knickt das Kabel leicht ab und öffnet den Entmantler wieder. Wenn man das Werkzeug in Richtung Kabelende erneut ansetzt, kann man den Außenhandel leicht abstreifen. Es gibt die unterschiedlichsten Entmantler für die unterschiedlichsten Kabelsorten. Art.
