COATED ABRASIVE FLAP DISCS FLAP DISC BACKING PLATES LOCKING-TYPE & THREADED HUBS The backing plate provides the support and basic shape (flat or conical) for the abrasive flaps. The abrasive flaps and fiberglass backing plate are designed to wear together during continuous grinding and finishing applications. Wearing together allows for efficient use of the maximum amount of the abrasive flaps and is why fiberglass backing plates are the most commonly used. Trimmable plastic backing plates enable the operator to use more of the flaps by continuously trimming the backing plate as the flaps wear reducing disc changes and waste, saving time and increasing life. Trimmable backing plate flap discs also allow operators access to hard to reach areas like fillet welds and other irregular shapes while also grinding on edge without having to change tools and or abrasives SHAPES Flat Backing Plate & Coated Flaps - The BEST shape for finishing ▪ Grind at a 10-15° angle. ▪ Narrow point of contract. ▪ Best used for blending and finishing.
