Label each work piece. Choose one machine and one operator (for consistency). 2 WEIGH EACH WORK PIECE PRIOR TO GRINDING. 3 GRIND WORK PIECE “ONE” WITH CURRENT SUPPLIER’S ABRASIVES FOR PREDETERMINED GRIND TIME. 4 GRIND WORK PIECE “TWO” WITH NEW ABRASIVE FOR THE SAME PREDETERMINED GRIND TIME. 5 WEIGH EACH WORK PIECE AND COMPARE REMOVAL AND FINISH. MEASURING Cycle Times 1 SET TEST PARAMETERS. MEASURING CYCLE TIMES Collect two groups of identical work pieces. Establish the number of work pieces to be completed. Label each group. Choose one machine and one operator (for consistency). Have a timing device available. 2 GRIND GROUP “ONE” WITH CURRENT SUPPLIER’S ABRASIVE. Record the time it takes to process the predetermined number of work pieces. 3 GRIND GROUP “TWO” WITH THE NEW TEST ABRASIVE.
