The origins of Joran® go back to May 1944 at which time, good friends Paul Jensen and Herman Reinholdt formed the company Jensen and Reinholdt in Hvidovre, Denmark. They initially began producing masonry drill bits and later in 1955 expanded the production line to hammer drill bits. Both product lines were characterised by uncompromising quality and were mainly offered to the building and construction industry. IRWIN® is committed to continue the original values of these products by delivering state of the art of Power Tool Accessories. The masonry drill bits range is no exception to this, and continues to fulfill the highest industry standards. The Joran SPEEDHAMMER™ Plus and SPEEDHAMMER™ Quad have the certification of “Prüfgemeinschaft Mauerbohrer” e.V. (PGM®), which is the official and independent marking validating the standards of masonry drill bits. The mark is granted only to manufacturers fulfilling the following: • state-of-the-art manufacturing under use of a quality assurance system • yearly inspections of the produced drill bits by independent institutes The inspection requirements are developed by the national approval bodies for anchors in cooperation with leading manufacturers of masonry drill bits and anchors. The Steering Committee of PGM® also carries out appropriate investigations in order to assure the suitability of masonry drill bits for anchor fixings. New types of drills bits get the inspection mark only after extensive testing has been carried out, ensuring the required suitability and performance.
