The KL-0029-1303 shock absorber holding-down clamp is designed to be used in conjunction with the KL-0029-100 A base coil spring pre-compressor and the KL-0029-130 upgrade kit. It ensures that the piston rod is securely held in the upper spring plate and pressed down while the suspension strut is being pre-compressed. It can also be used to spread the slot (clamp) on the front wheel bearing housing (steering knuckle) to allow for the damage-free removal of the lower ball joint. This procedure is an absolute must to ensure the proper removal of tightfitting or stuck spring/shock absorber units and lower suspension ball joints respectively. Special features of the tool are the floating bolts that prevent the tool from jamming and the special spreader wedge which is provided with a limit stop to avoid excessive knuckle widening. Prevents expensive damage to the cast iron or aluminium steering knuckle or other chassis components that may be caused by unprofessional removal/ installation attempts. Thanks to its variably adjustable spreader tip, this tool is also ideal for use on vehicles with steering knuckles having a non-centralised slot!
