Springs and Shock Absorbers KL-5501 B (Code 3230503) (Patented) KL-5501 B Spring Compressor, Stationary Universally applicable to virtually all MacPherson suspension strut and shock absorber designs with coil springs, such as right-hand-coiled springs, left-handcoiled springs, eccentric springs/spring plates, conical springs, springs with a small number of windings, long-pitch springs or variable-pitch springs. Also suitable for use on shock absorber designs with rebound buffer springs, shock absorbers on which the hardness is electronically adjustable as well as magnetorheological shock absorbers. Alternative tool: VAS 6908/1 The stationary spring compressor is the ultimate solution when it comes to compressing the MacPherson-type struts/shock absorbers that are commonly used in today’s vehicle suspension systems. Special features, such as the variable spring plate-clamping device, the adjustable support column assembly, and the strut-holding device with one-hand operation, make the KL-5501 B a very versatile spring compressor that satisfies the highest Health and Safety Standards. Thanks to a special technique, the spring is compressed via the upper spring plate against the lower spring plate, hence spring shape and spring pitch are no longer an issue. Comes with a mounting plate that allows the spring compressor to be easily fixed to an appropriate workshop trolley or workbench. Thanks to the wide range of adjustment possibilities, the spring compressor is applicable to virtually any MacPherson suspension strut and shock absorber design commonly used in today’s vehicle suspension systems. Maximum safety! The sophisticated and solid overall design of the stationary spring compressor as well as its simple and user-friendly operation provide a maximum level of safety. Applicable to many different spring designs! With this spring compressor, the design of the spring - no matter whether it is about right-hand-coiled springs, left-hand-coiled springs, conical springs, eccentric springs, springs with a small number of windings, long-pitch springs or variable-pitch springs - is no longer an issue. This is thanks to the special compression technique which allows the spring to be compressed via the upper spring plate against the lower spring plate. Applicable to shock absorbers with rebound buffer spring! Thanks to the large opening width of 570mm and a compression force of up to max. 15 000N, even shock absorbers with rebound buffer springs that require a high preload on the spring are not an issue. No damage to the strut/shock tube! The clamping bars of the strut-holding device can properly and quickly be aligned and adjusted to the respective strut tube diameter by means of a knurled nut. Plastic clamping jaws prevent damage to the strut tube. Allows for one-person operation! Thanks to the strut-holding device with quick-action clamping and one-handoperation mechanism, the entire process can be carried out by just one person. Mobile use - in conjunction with a workshop trolley/workbench! The stationary spring compressor comes with a mounting plate that enables it to be fixed to an appropriate workshop trolley/workbench. To attach the spring compressor to the MODULO KL-4999-120 A, KL-4999-121 A workshop trolley/ workbench or to a vertical wall, the special MODULO mounting kit KL-5501-211 (available separately as accessory) is needed. This allows the user to carry out repairs more quickly, more efficiently and more flexibly, also next to the vehicle.
