Inte re sting Fac ts A bout Our Me asuring Tapes Tape measures with metric graduations are generally CE certified and are therefore considered initially calibrated. They are available in the Accuracy Classes I, II and III. Things to know about tape measures BMI tape measures are produced in Germany according to the highest quality standards. BMI guarantees compliance with the European Measuring Instruments Directive – MID, for compliance with the predefined tolerance/ error limits. (see page 28). Standard Versions: • Steel tape measures: Class II (Class I available for an additional charge) • Fiberglass tape measures: Class II (Class III for cm/cm graduation) Declaration of Conformity A declaration of confomity can be issued for most measuring tapes with a metric graduation. It is enclosed in the delivery. The declaration confirms the requirements, including the compliance of the tolerance/error limits, according to the European Measuring Instruments Directive. Factory Calibration Certificate* The calibration certificate specifies actual deviations of the tape measure at defined measuring points. The tape measure bears an identification number and can thus be assigned to the calibration certificate. Article N°. 360 KA “Length” Test Certificate* A test certificate certifies that the corresponding tested device complies with the requirements of the European Measuring Instruments Directive – MID. The tested device has an ID number and is assigned to the test certificate. This certificate can be issued with or without a factory calibration certificate. Article N°. 360 PB As standard, the measuring points are set at each meter. Customers may also request other measuring points. Length correction/temperature correction (see page 29) Quality measuring tape Quality measuring tapes are labelled at the beginning of the tape: • Manufacturer logo • Nominal length • Accuracy class • CE and metrology marking • Conformity assessment body • Reference temperature and tension used by the manufacturer to guarantee compliance with the MID accuracy class. The use of quality materials and modern production processes ensure the outstanding value of BMI quality tape measures. Reference conditions These classes comply with an ambient temperature of 20° C and a reference tension of: • 20 Newton (N) for fiberglass tapes and • 50 Newton (N) for steel tapes. CE Certification Measuring devices with metric graduations are usually CE certified and are therefore considered initially calibrated. A declaration of conformity replaces the previously used calibration certificate. Exempt from this CE certification are several plumb bob measuring tapes, special tapes, and tapes with the “C” commencement. Tape Length Manufacturer CE-Mark Accuracy Class Metrology Mark * Declaration of Conformity and Factory Calibration Certificate are valid for 2 years. 32 Reference Tension and Temperature Refer to our General Terms of Payment and Delivery Conformity Assessment Body
