Test plugs for CEE sockets The test plug is used for the safe checking of the rotating field direction in CEE sockets. In accordance with VDE 0100 § 31b 5, three-phase sockets must be connected such that there is a clockwise rotating field when looking at the sockets from the front in a clockwise direction. The three indicator lights on the test plug indicate a clockwise or anti-clockwise rotating field as well as indicating if a phase is missing. Meaning of the indicator lights Everything OK Phases connected in the correct sequence. (direction of rotation right) Everything OK Phases not connected in the correct sequence. (direction of rotation left) Change wiring if necessary. Error A phase is missing. Check wiring. Error Earth or neutral conductor not connected. Check wiring. (direction of rotation right) Error Earth or neutral conductor connected to phase. Check wiring. Error Earth or neutral conductor not connected. Check wiring.
